Fantasy Analysis
Olivo was finally getting on track offensively before getting hurt. He has hit safely in his last eight games, batting .333 (11 for 33) with three homers in that span. Hopefully, he will be able to pick up where he left off. Olivo should play regularly behind the plate because the Mariners aren't ready to trust Jesus Montero as the everyday catcher. If Olivo hits like he was prior to going on the DL, then he will re-emerge as a reliable Fantasy start. For now, he's at best a No. 2 option in mixed leagues. (Updated 05/24/2012).

Miguel Olivo returned to Seattle in 2011 and put up some decent power numbers but struggled to hit for average. While his 19 homers and 62 RBI were his best numbers since 2009, his .224 average and .253 on-base percentage were both well below his career marks. He also struck out a career-high 140 times and drew just 20 walks. The good news was that he was able to play in 130 games – his highest total -- and heads into 2012 as the starter in Seattle. He has averaged nearly 16 homers runs over the past six seasons and his .433 slugging percentage over that span proves that he should be able to keep up his power. He likely won't get much better at age 33 and will have John Jason and Adam Moore pushing him for playing time so target Olivo in deeper Fantasy formats on Draft Day. (Updated 1/3/12)
