Affeldt moving to clear salary?: FOXSports.com reports that the Giants are looking to trade RP Jeremy Affeldt. They exercised their $5 million option on him for the 2012 season last month, but now they are in a payroll-cutting mode. Affeldt went 3-2 with a 2.63 ERA and three saves for the Giants this past season. (Updated 11/30/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
Affeldt's stuff is good enough that he could probably thrive as a closer, but whether he remains a Giant or pitches for another team next year, he is likely to be used as a set-up man. He is one of the better non-closer relief options in Fantasy, so despite a lack of save opportunities, Affeldt has some value for owners in deeper leagues. (Updated 11/30/2011).
