Figgins' average continues to sink: It's gotten downright ugly for Mariners utility player Chone Figgins. The veteran hasn't produced a hit in 14 May at-bats and is mired in a 0-for-20 slump dating back to April 30. His average has gone from .412 to .180 in a span of 26 games. (Updated 05/21/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
It's been such a disappointing decline for Figgins since he landed in Seattle in 2010. The Mariners tried everything they could to get him going, but nothing has taken. Now, he's a bench player and there's no signs of that changing any time soon. Stop living in the past and do yourself a favor by cutting Figgins. There's no need to hold onto him in Fantasy at this juncture. (Updated 05/21/2012).

05/06/2012 21:52 Weekend Buzz: Star players getting injured in alarming numbers
Mariano Rivera. Pablo Sandoval. Evan Longoria. And those are among the All-Stars who suffered injuries this week alone. Scott Miller says we're only a month into the season, and it seems like every team has an injured star.
Chone Figgins endured the worst campaign of his career during his second season with the Mariners. He batted a lowly .188 with a .241 on-base percentage while appearing in 81 games. He also drove in just 15 runs and posted 11 stolen bases. The 33-year-old was even benched at one point and Seattle put him in the outfield a couple of times to try and get things turned around. He did not play after Aug. 1 due to a hip injury and enters 2012 with some serious question marks. Kyle Seager and Alex Liddi will battle him for the starting job at third base during spring training and the Mariners might not have a spot on the field for Figgins. Figgins averaged nearly 44 stolen bases with a .361 on-base percentage from 2004-2010 and would be a viable option in Fantasy if he can get anywhere close to those numbers again. But considering his current situation, plan on leaving him for AL-only formats on Draft Day. (Updated 1/3/12)
