In addition, Washington placed outfielder Reed Johnson on the 15-day DL with a calf strain. Cole started Tuesday's game against the Braves and was rocked for nine runs in two innings of work. Taylor was sent to Triple-A roughly two weeks ago and was hitting .271 to start the year. Solis has appeared in three games this season in the minors with an 0-0 record and a 2.25 ERA.
Nationals OF Reed Johnson to miss extended time with foot injury
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(4/29/15) Nationals outfielder Reed Johnson is expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time after pulling a muscle in his foot during Tuesday's dramatic win over Atlanta, manager Matt Williams told reporters, per Comcast SportsNet Washington.
"It acts like plantar fascia, but it's actually a muscle that kind of goes underneath your foot and up the side of your leg," Williams said.
Johnson suffered the injury while legging out a pinch-hit double in the seventh inning for his second RBI of the season. He is a candidate to land on the disabled list, depending on the severity of the injury.
"He felt it when he came out of the box," Williams said. "He heard a big pop. And when he got out to second, it was starting to subside and then he had to dive back into second base again and he couldn't go any farther."
