Fantasy Analysis
Cust had one hit in 25 at-bats this spring, but apparently that didn't matter to the Yankees. Cust will likely open the year in the minors and should be left off all Fantasy rosters until further notice. (Updated 03/28/2012).
Without the help of the designated hitter position playing for the Houston Astros, outfielder Jack Cust may have trouble getting at-bats in 2012. Cust is in the mix for the right field and left field jobs for the Astros, but J.D. Martinez, Jason Bourgeois and Brian Bogusevic also stand in his way. Cust was a member of the Seattle Mariners in 2011 and he hit .213 with three homers and 23 RBI over 225 at-bats. He has major pop in his bat, hitting at least 25 homers in three straight seasons from 2007-09 with Oakland, but doesn't figure to see enough plate appearances to make much of a difference in 2012. Fantasy owners can enter the season considering Cust a low-end NL-only option. (Updated 2/7/12)
