Preseason Outlook

Lyon finally makes spring debut: Astros RP Brandon Lyon made his spring debut on Thursday against the Tigers, allowing one earned run on one hit in an inning pitched. Lyon got a late start after having a small cyst in his right shoulder drained in January. He was relieved to get back on the hill and is looking forward to continuing to make progress. "I just wanted to get out and get some innings," Lyon said. "My adrenaline started to flow and it was good to get started. Now, my goal is to put together back-to-back outings. I'll wake up, stretch it out and keep building my arm strength."

Fantasy Analysis

Lyon is trailing in his competition for the Astros' closer job with Matt Lindstrom after getting a late start this spring, and Lindstrom allowing just two hits and no runs in four appearances so far. However, Lyon did save 26 games in 31 opportunities back in 2008, so don't count him out yet. His Fantasy value lies in NL-only formats, where he could prove to be a nice sleeper pick if he wins the job.
