Lyon's poor start to the season is showing why the Astros moved Brett Myers into the closer's role. Lyon clearly isn't ready to step back into the ninth-inning role after missing most of last season with a biceps injury. In fact, he doesn't have a set role in the bullpen. Lyon has pitched in multiple situations thus far. He's likely to be a setup man for Myers, but Lyon is a risky Fantasy option at this time. (Updated 04/16/2012).

Brandon Lyon started the 2011 campaign as the closer in Houston, but after some early season struggles and a serious injury, his season quickly got derailed. He blew his first save of the year and posted a 7.15 ERA over his first 15 appearances before going down with a biceps injury. He would return mid-June in the setup role, but allowed eight earned runs in two innings pitched before undergoing surgery on his biceps injury. With Mark Melancon, who served as closer while Lyon was out, now in Boston, Lyon appeared to be back in the closer hunt this spring, but that all changed with the choice of Brett Myers as the new ninth-inning man. Lyon will revert to a set-up role, but due to ongoing health concerns and an inconsistent track record, he is merely a low-end relief option for NL-only leagues that use middle men. (Updated 2/28/12)
