Preseason Outlook

Cruz 2 for 2 in save chances: Pirates reliever Juan Cruz entered Wednesday's series finale against the Diamondbacks in the ninth inning with a one-run lead. The right-hander gave up a leadoff single but was able to escape the frame unscathed to secure the 2-1 win. Cruz also struck out one while collecting his second save of the season. Fantasy Analysis
Cruz has gone 2 for 2 in save chances while filling in for the injured Joel Hanrahan and needs just one more to set a new career high. He could see more opportunities going forward, depending on how long it takes Hanrahan to return, so keep an eye on the situation going forward. The 33-year-old has never really been a huge option in Fantasy but might be worth a look in deeper NL-only formats if his role improves in Pittsburgh. (Updated 04/18/2012).
