Fantasy Analysis
Kennedy has seen most of the starts at third base for the Dodgers since Juan Uribe went on the DL. He will likely continue to stay in the lineup as long as he continues to contribute offensively. However, Kennedy hasn't homered or been a big run producer during his recent run, so he still remains just a stopgap NL-only Fantasy option. (Updated 05/24/2012).
05/20/2012 23:20 Van Slyke's first HR wins it for Dodgers
Pinch-hitter Scott Van Slyke connected for his first major league homer, a go-ahead, three-run shot in the seventh inning against his father's former team, and the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied for a 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday night.
05/20/2012 01:10 Kershaw tosses shutout against Cards
Clayton Kershaw outdueled Jake Westbrook with a six-hitter for his fourth career shutout, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers over the St. Louis Cardinals 6-0 Saturday night.
05/19/2012 01:37 Bases-load walk gives Dodgers win
A.J. Ellis drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night in the opener of a series between the NL West and Central Division leaders.
05/10/2012 01:58 Gwynn's triple helps Dodgers beat Giants
Pinch-hitter Tony Gwynn Jr. hit a go-ahead three-run triple off Tim Lincecum, one inning after San Francisco's Nate Schierholtz ran into a critical out that helped kill a Giants' rally and the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers went on to a 6-2 victory Wednesday night.
After years of serving as one of the most versatile players in the majors, Adam Kennedy seems to have settled into his newfound reserve role. He will play in that capacity for his fifth different team in the past five seasons after signing a one-year deal with the Dodgers in December. Unfortunately, his position doesn't translate into Fantasy success as stable playing time could be at a premium for the 36-year-old. In 2011, Kennedy hit .234 with 23 doubles, seven homers and 38 RBI for Seattle. Overall, he owns a career .272 batting average, but boasts little power and has never hit more than 13 home runs in a season. Kennedy has never been a steady on-base threat and his OBP has decreased in each of the past three seasons to a lowly .277 mark last year. Fantasy owners should expect him to collect close to 400 at-bats, but his value is limited only to deeper NL-only formats. (Updated 2/13/12)
