Preseason Outlook

The left-handed De La Rosa had bounced between relief and the rotation for years, but he found a steady role with the Rockies in 2009 and it made him a winner. Fantasy owners cannot count on a great ERA or WHIP, but the 16-game winner is a nice late-round pick in a standard mixed league because of the contender he pitches for. He was particularly clutch down the stretch and in the Fantasy postseason, going 10-2 with a 3.46 ERA and .238 batting-average against in the second half and 4-0 with a 3.24 ERA and .203 BAA in September. We don't see him being that dominant coming off his breakthrough year, though, so be careful not to place too much of your Fantasy staff's load on this late-bloomer. (Updated 1/11/10)
