Fantasy Analysis
None of the players listed here would deserve more than a late-round pick in Fantasy -- and that's assuming they all get full-time jobs. Podsednik is a one-trick pony. Kennedy and Byrd have just now become relevant. Ankiel and Blalock have yet to live up to their potential. Huff, Polanco, Beltre, LaRoche, Hudson, Cameron and Lopez lack upside. Same goes for Washburn, Marquis and Smoltz. Delgado and Penny come with too much risk, and Wagner would need to land in the right situation -- one where he could earn saves. Keep an eye on their movement. Nobody else on this list deserves a look in mixed leagues, barring something unexpected during the offseason. (Updated 11/05/2009).
10/21/2009 23:51 Powerful Phillies slam Dodgers in Game 5, repeat as NL champions
Jayson Werth hit two home runs, Shane Victorino and Pedro Feliz also connected and the defending champions beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-4 in Game 5 on Wednesday night to win their second straight NL pennant.
For the second straight year, Hudson's season ended early to injury -- this time to his wrist, and this time in early August. Considering he's only once played 145 games in his seven-year major-league career, he rightfully carries the label of "injury prone," and since he doesn't offer serious home-run or stolen-base potential, you have to wonder why you'd draft him as more than a late-round middle infielder. He knows how to get on base, and he can certainly leg out a few doubles and triples, so you can count on him for solid, reliable, and serviceable stats if you miss out on the elite second basemen on Draft Day. Just don't count on him for those stats all season long. (Updated 12/3/08)
