Myers rocked by Cards: Houston SP Brett Myers struggled on Wednesday against St. Louis in his last start of the season. He was tagged for seven runs -- six earned -- off 10 hits in his five innings of work. Myers struck out three and issued one walk before handing the ball over to the bullpen. Fantasy Analysis
Myers was a bit more productive in the second half of the season as he won four games compared to just three before the All-Star break. He racked up over 200 innings for the third time in his career, but didn't get much run support this season. While he'll have a spot in the rotation in 2012, Myers should be targeted in the later rounds on Draft Day. (Updated 09/28/2011).
02/08/2012 04:32 2012 Fantasy outlooks: Houston Astros
To say the Houston Astros are rebuilding is an understatement, but they have more than a few surprises in the form of young talent. Michael Hurcomb breaks down the American League-bound franchise in his Fantasy team outlook.
Brett Myers had a resurgent campaign in his first season with the Astros in 2010, but he was not nearly as effective a season ago. After winning 14 games in 2010, he went just 3-13 with a 4.95 ERA over his first 27 starts before making a strong push down the stretch. He would go 4-1 with a 2.49 ERA over his final seven appearances (six starts) to finish with seven wins overall. While he was hindered by a very poor team in Houston, the 31-year-old did not look as hungry as he did when he was playing for a new contract and still has another year left on his current deal. The Astros are not expected to be much better in 2012. And with another year under his belt, the right-hander is not looking like an attractive option in Fantasy. He should be able to make at least 30 starts for the third straight season, but given his recent struggles, leave Myers for deeper mixed leagues and NL-only formats on Draft Day. (Updated 1/9/12)
