Fantasy Analysis
Myers has converted 11 of 12 save chances thus far and lowered his ERA to 1.80 on Tuesday. He also has 11 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched and has made a successful return to the bullpen after starting for much of the last four seasons. The 31-year-old can be utilized as a viable source for saves in deeper Fantasy formats at this point. (Updated 05/22/2012).

05/09/2012 21:33 Myers is being added at high rate
Houston relief pitcher Brett Myers is one of the most added players on CBSSports.com. The Fantasy Baseball 360 crew has all the analysis.
Brett Myers' 2010 season -- his first in Houston -- was a resurgent one, but after taking a step back a season ago, the Astros decided he'd be better off with a different role entirely. That's right: He's a closer now. Manager Brad Mills made the announcement early in spring training and it's probably for the best in Fantasy. As a starting pitcher Myers was a lock for 200 innings, sure, but he was inconsistent and wouldn't have gotten much run support with the Astros. As a closer the lack of run support could actually work to his advantage by keeping games close. Plus, Myers has experience in the role having recorded 21 saves for the Phillies in 2007, and at the time he said he preferred it. While some of the more forgiving Fantasy owners might have targeted Myers with a late-round pick anyway, hoping for a rebound season, his new role makes him worth drafting in all Fantasy formats. Depending on how scarce saves are in your league, he might even be closer to a middle-rounder. (Updated 2/28/12)
