Fantasy Analysis
None of the players listed here would deserve more than a late-round pick in Fantasy -- and that's assuming they all get full-time jobs. Podsednik is a one-trick pony. Kennedy and Byrd have just now become relevant. Ankiel and Blalock have yet to live up to their potential. Huff, Polanco, Beltre, LaRoche, Hudson, Cameron and Lopez lack upside. Same goes for Washburn, Marquis and Smoltz. Delgado and Penny come with too much risk, and Wagner would need to land in the right situation -- one where he could earn saves. Keep an eye on their movement. Nobody else on this list deserves a look in mixed leagues, barring something unexpected during the offseason. (Updated 11/05/2009).

09/20/2009 16:40 Matthews' tiebreaking shot helps Angels double up Rangers
Gary Matthews Jr. snapped out of his September slump with a tiebreaking homer and a two-run single for the Los Angeles Angels in a 10-5 victory over the Texas Rangers on Sunday.
09/19/2009 21:54 Feldman locks up 17th win to keep Rangers alive
Hank Blalock homered to help lift Texas' slumping offense, Scott Feldman picked up his 17th victory and the Texas Rangers kept their slim playoff hopes alive, beating the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 Saturday night.
After two injury-plagued years, Blalock managed to stay relatively healthy in 2009. Unfortunately, he no longer hit the way he did in between stints on the DL, instead playing like a Quadruple-A player too overmatched to make full use of his power potential. A regression that began in 2005 and 2006 reared its ugly head again in his return to regular at-bats, giving him an OPS (.736) more befitting of a middle infielder than a slugger. As if his .234 batting average wasn't bad enough, he walked a pitiful 26 times, giving him a .277 on-base percentage that ranked second-to-last among players with 450 at-bats (thank you, Yuniesky Betancourt). And now that he's leaving a hitter's haven in Texas, you have to think he has even more trouble ahead. At age 29, Blalock still has time to turn his career around, but you'd have to be pretty desperate for power to turn to him on Draft Day. (Updated 12/9/09)
