Preseason Outlook

As usual, Sanchez battled injuries last year -- this time to his shoulder and knee -- and while he had surgery on the knee right away, he waited until late December to have surgery on the shoulder. The Giants, desperate to make the playoffs, acquired him from the Pirates despite his injuries and now might not have him back in time for opening day. He knows how to hit doubles, which he'll need to do in that ballpark, but he hasn't done anything noteworthy in Fantasy since he won the batting title with a .344 average in 2006. Since he won't contribute double-digit home runs or steals, he pretty much needs to win a batting title to serve as anything more than waiver fodder in Fantasy. He's the kind of player who might make an impact at some point during the Fantasy season, when injuries and slumps inevitably change the lay of the land, but he'll go untouched in most leagues on Draft Day.
