| (3/19/08) The Giants optioned RP Billy Sadler to Triple-A Fresno and reassigned RHP Victor Santos to minor league camp Wednesday. |
| Santos has a chance to start |
| (3/6/08) MLB.com reports Giants SP Noah Lowry will undergo surgery Friday to relieve tendinitis in his left, pitching wrist. It is expected that he will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks. The official diagnosis of Lowry's injury is called exertional compartment syndrome. It is "an exercise-induced neuromuscular condition that causes pain, swelling and sometimes even disability in affected muscles of the legs or arms." Manager Bruce Bochy said the objective of the surgery is to reduce pressure from the tissue in Lowry's wrist. "It's not like this is a common occurrence in baseball players," Bochy said. Bochy added that Lowry might not pitch until the end of April, and it's expected that Kevin Correia and Jonathan Sanchez will fill in at the back-end of the rotation until Lowry is healthy. Patrick Misch and Victor Santos will also get a look. |
