Taveras no longer a long shot?: With the Rockies inclined to keep four outfielders as a way to have Jason Giambi as an option off the bench, the chances of OF Wily Taveras making the opening-day roster seem slim despite playing well this spring. Although, the Rockies don't need a fifth starter until April 10, so Taveras could be an extra bat off the bench in the early weeks of the season. I have welcomed any challenge and tried to do anything the Rockies have asked me. Its been a great the way they have treated me, Taveras told The Denver Post. (Updated 03/23/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
The Rockies are quite familiar with Taveras, who played for them from 2007-08. Taveras was once an elite base stealer, but injuries derailed his career and now he is just looking to make someone's roster. Even if he is traded, full-time at-bats don't await Taveras initially. It's probably best to ignore him in Fantasy until further notice. (Updated 03/23/2011).
