Taveras no longer a long shot?: With the Rockies inclined to keep four outfielders as a way to have Jason Giambi as an option off the bench, the chances of OF Wily Taveras making the opening-day roster seem slim despite playing well this spring. Although, the Rockies don't need a fifth starter until April 10, so Taveras could be an extra bat off the bench in the early weeks of the season. “I have welcomed any challenge and tried to do anything the Rockies have asked me. The Rockies are quite familiar with Taveras, who played for them from 2007-08.
