Fantasy Analysis
With Lorenzo Cain on the disabled list with a groin injury, Bourgeois was unable to grasp the majority of playing time and posted just three hits in 14 at-bats for a .214 batting average. He can play other positions but his Fantasy value in non-existent while in the minors. (Updated 04/27/2012).
04/16/2012 23:01 Verlander goes nine, Tigers top Royals
Justin Verlander beat Kansas City once again, surviving a shaky ninth inning Monday night to deliver the Detroit Tigers a 3-2 victory over the Royals.
Jason Bourgeois got off to a scorching start in 2011 and ended up with some decent stats despite being sidelined with injuries. He batted .407 with 12 stolen bases over his first 28 games before an oblique injury kept him out of action for nearly a month. He battled a knee injury in July but saw some regular playing time when healthy. He finished with season with a .294 average, .323 slugging percentage and 31 stolen bases in 93 games. Bourgeois enters 2012 as an intriguing option in Fantasy. If he can see regular playing time, he could do some damage on the base paths. But as a fourth outfielder for Houston, his value will lie mainly in NL-only and deeper Rotisserie formats. Keep an eye on how the 30-year-old does during spring training before drafting Bourgeois in larger Fantasy leagues. (Updated 1/9/12)
