Uggla extends streak with HR: Braves 2B Dan Uggla extended his modest hitting streak to seven games on Saturday night against the Dodgers. He went 1 for 2 with a home run and two walks in the 2-1 loss. He led off the second inning with a solo shot off starter Nate Eovaldi for his 32nd long ball of the year. Uggla has at least one hit in 11 of his last 12 games, and is batting .333 (13 for 39) over that span. (Updated 09/03/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
Uggla also has five homers and eight RBI during his recent tear and is starting to heat up again after cooling off a bit. While his current streak is not has proficient as his 33-gamer, he has been able to raise his batting average from .231 to .236 during it and could be on the verge of another long one. Keep an eye on his progress going forward but with his rare power at a thin position in Fantasy, continue to view Uggla as a must-start option. (Updated 09/03/2011).

02/02/2012 06:55 2012 Fantasy outlooks: Atlanta Braves
Last season was especially painful for the Braves -- really just the final month. But Atlanta brings back a stable of Fantasy heavy-hitters and our Scott White says now all they need is a bit of better luck in his team outlook.
As disappointing as Dan Uggla's first year in a Braves uniform was, it could have been much, much worse. After the All-Star break, he salvaged what was shaping up to be a historically bad campaign with a 33-game hitting streak during which he hit .377 with 15 homers in 130 at-bats. Over his other 470 at-bats, he hit only .194, including .174 over the first three months. Granted, inconsistency is nothing new for Uggla -- his high strikeout rate has contributed to wild fluctuations in batting average over the years -- but his struggles in 2011 were different. At one point, he even admitted he was trying to live up to his big contract and impress his new team. The year wasn't a total loss, of course. Despite the career-low .233 batting average and .764 OPS, he did manage to hit a career-high 36 homers to become the first second baseman in history with five consecutive 30-homer seasons. And that's one thing you can always count on Uggla to provide: power at a historically weak position. But he's not quite the Fantasy stud he appeared to be when he hit a career-high .287 in 2010. He's still a top 10 second baseman, but one you can wait until the middle rounds to draft in standard mixed leagues. (Updated 2/9/12)
