Barmes shows little patience: Pittsburgh shortstop Clint Barmes went 0 for 4 with a strikeout during the Pirates' 4-3 win over Detroit in an interleague matchup on Saturday. Barmes' hitless outing was his 11th in 18 games this month as he has produced a lackluster .170 batting average during May. (Updated 05/19/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Barmes may not be collecting many hits during the second month of the season (just eight), but he is piling up on another statistic: strikeouts. The 33-year-old has fanned a whopping 19 times during the month of May for a season total of 35 strikeouts. He also has walked only once over the entire season, but remains in the everyday lineup. Consider him a low-end reserve option in NL-only Fantasy formats for now. (Updated 05/19/2012).

05/13/2012 20:18 Hit Parade for Week 7
As interleague play gets under way there are many matchups to break down. Our Scott White tells you who the best bets and biggest risks are in his Hit Parade for Week 7.
Clint Barmes signed a two-year deal with the Pirates in the offseason and will step in as their starting shortstop. He had the same role for the Astros in 2011, batting .244 with 12 homers and 39 RBI while seeing action in 123 games. He was able to raise his average and power from the year before but did not have many opportunities to drive in runs playing for a bad Houston team. Barmes will be surrounded by more talent in Pittsburgh in 2012, but it looks as though his days of hitting 20-plus homers are gone. Since he will see steady at-bats, though, consider the 32-year-old a viable option in NL-only formats on Draft Day. (Updated 1/12/12)
