| Casey Kotchman nearly ready for rehab |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (5/16/13) Marlins first baseman Casey Kotchman has yet to begin his rehab assignment, as expected, but he did take part in pre-game fielding and batting practice Thursday. He is expected to go out on a rehab assignment soon, according to MLB.com.
Kotchman has been out since April 3 with a hamstring injury. He is on the 60-day disabled list and is not eligible to return until early June.

| Casey Kotchman ready for rehab |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/11/13) Marlins manager Mike Redmond told the Miami Herald that first baseman Casey Kotchman (hamstring) has been cleared for baseball activities and will start his rehab assignment on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Redmond has not specified which minor-league affiliate Kotchman will play for this week. The 30-year-old has been on the disabled list since early April and has appeared in just two games this season.

| Casey Kotchman moved to 60-day DL |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/8/13) The Marlins transferred first baseman Casey Kotchman (hamstring) from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday. Kotchman has been on the DL since early April and has appeared in just two games this season.

| Casey Kotchman not nearing a return |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (4/19/13) Casey Kotchman was the Marlins' opening day first baseman due to Logan Morrison's prolonged recovery from knee surgery, but injuries of his own have kept him off the field since the team's second game.
Kotchman is on the 15-day disabled list with a pulled hamstring, and he has yet to begin running as part of his return.
"He's still the same," Marlins manager Mike Redmond told MLB.com Friday. "It just takes time. He pulled that thing pretty good. He's progressing, but it just takes time for that thing to heal."

| Casey Kotchman put on 15-day DL |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (4/5/13) As expected, Marlins first baseman Casey Kotchman has been put on the 15-day disabled list.
Kotchman is dealing with a strained hamstring. The move is retroactive to April 4. Kyle Skipworth has been called up to take Kotchman's roster spot.

| First baseman Casey Kotchman, who spent 2012 with Cleveland, kind of flubbed the one thing he had going for him in Fantasy in 2012 -- his average. You don't draft Kotchman for his power (he's lucky to hit 10 home runs), speed (his career high in steals? Three) or even doubles (he's gone over 25 just twice in a nine-year career). But he hit .306 in 2011 and put up a .273 average over his previous five seasons. A free agent heading into 2013, Kotchman, who has managed 400 or more at-bats in five of the last six seasons, should be able to find a role with some team, but it's likely not as a starter. Even if he does find a regular job, Kotchman's a light-hitting first baseman, and with the current crop at that position his value is low-end AL-only at best. (Updated 12/5/12) |
