Kotchmans solid May continues: Indians first baseman Casey Kotchman had his first three-hit game in over a month on Tuesday against the Tigers, going 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI as the Indians defeated the Tigers, 5-3. Kotchman raised his batting average to .225 on the season, up from an abysmal .149 during the month of April. (Updated 05/22/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Kotchman is now hitting .306 in the month of May, with 11 RBI, which is quite a turnaround after how badly he struggled in April. He is still hitting for very little power, however he is back to showing the skills that led him to hit .306 last season. He is still more of a solid AL-only option due to his lack of power. Casey Kotchman continues to fly under the radar in most Fantasy circles. He turned a minor league contract into a full-time job with Tampa Bay last season, enjoying a breakout campaign in which he batted a career-best .306 with 10 homers and 48 RBI while appearing in a career-high 146 games. Kotchman was also one of only three American League first basemen -- Detroit's Miguel Cabrera and Boston's Adrian Gonzalez were the others -- to finish in the top 10 in both batting average and on-base percentage while appearing in at least 40 games at the position. Now, he could patrol first base for the Indians after signing a one-year deal in early February. Kotchman, who bats left-handed, is expected to compete for Cleveland’s starting job during spring training with Matt LaPorta and Russ Canzler. He could hold the advantage as he is a career .268 hitter and ranks as one of the best defensive first basemen in the majors. But with a lack of sufficient power, he remains just a late-round option in AL-only Fantasy drafts for 2012. (Updated 2/6/12)
