| Jeremy Bonderman a rotation candidate for M's? |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/10/13) Mariners manager Eric Wedge dodged questions Tuesday night about the status of rookie pitcher Brandon Maurer, who has struggled to begin the season. The Seattle Times reports the Mariners could indicate Wednesday their plans for the right-handed pitcher, who is scheduled to make his next start Sunday against the Rangers.
The Times suggests if the Mariners make a rotation change, then Danny Hultzen and Jeremy Bonderman are the leading candidates to replace Maurer since Erasmo Ramirez remains on the 7-day disabled list in the minors.
Bonderman, who was cut after a rough spring, has a 5.40 ERA and .417 opponents' batting average through one start for Triple-A Tacoma.

| Jeremy Bonderman accepts minor league assignment |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (3/31/13) Jeremy Bonderman has accepted a minor-league assignment and will remain in the Mariners organization, ESPN Seattle reports.
Bonderman, last pitched in the majors in 2010 with Detroit, where he allowed a 5.53 ERA (76 ERA+) in 171 innings. He underwent Tommy John surgery in April and will continue his comeback efforts at Triple-A Tacoma.

| Mariners want to keep Jeremy Bonderman |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (3/28/13) Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said Thursday he hasn't heard back yet from starting pitcher Jeremy Bonderman on whether he will accept an assignment to Triple-A Tacoma. Zduriencik is hopeful Bonderman, who lost out on a rotation spot this spring, will continue his comeback with the Mariners. Bonderman was 2-1 with a 8.80 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in five spring outings (three starts).

| Jeremy Bonderman sent to Triple-A |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (3/27/13) Jeremy Bonderman will be sent to Triple-A to open the season. Bonderman was attempting a comeback with the Mariners, but struggled during the spring. He had a 8.80 ERA over 15 1/3 spring innings, and gave up 24 hits. The 30-year-old could be an early call up if Brandon Maurer or Blake Beavan falter.

| Jeremy Bonderman blasted by Royals |
by Ed Gauna | CBSSports.com (3/26/13) Mariners pitcher Jeremy Bonderman did not make a strong case for a rotation spot in Tuesday's Cactus League outing against the Royals. He allowed seven runs on 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings. The right-hander also struck out two and walked one.
Bonderman, who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2010, has an 8.80 ERA in five appearances (three starts) this spring.

| Jeremy Bonderman had been lost in the shuffle over the last few seasons, but signed a minor-league deal with the Mariners in the offseason and will attempt to make a comeback in 2013. Bonderman, a Washington native, last pitched in the majors in 2010 and is coming off Tommy John surgery, but the right-hander had some productive years for Fantasy owners back in his days with the Tigers. He averaged 13 wins with a 4.49 ERA from 2004-06 and struck out a career-high 202 batters in 2006. Now at age 30, Bonderman will attempt to make the rotation in Seattle and should receive a good look during spring training. While owners should not expect him to return to the form he showed in Detroit, Bonderman would be worth a look in AL-only formats if able to crack the rotation. (Updated 1/2/13) |
