Contreras makes his debut: Phillies reliever Jose Contreras made his season debut on Friday, pitching a scoreless inning in a 4-1 win over the Padres. It was the first time he has appeared in a major league game since June of last season, after having elbow surgery last September and coming off of the disabled list on Monday. He allowed just one baserunner, on a walk, however he got the next batter to ground into a double play. (Updated 04/21/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Contreras' velocity looked fine for his first appearance, as he worked consistently in the low-90s with his fastball and high-80s with his slider. He is likely to spend his time as a middle reliever, for the Phillies, as they won't need him to step in at closer again barring injury. Because of his, he has very little appeal in most Fantasy formats. (Updated 04/21/2012).
