Royals Jeremy Guthrie gets the loss in Game 7
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(10/29/14) Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie picked up the loss Wednesday in Game 7 against the Giants.
Guthrie allowed three runs on four hits over 3 1/3 innings. He struck out three and did not issue any walks during the performance. Manager Ned Yost had a quick hook with the season on the line, leading to Guthrie getting pulled despite a low pitch count. After putting two men on base to start the fourth, Guthrie was replaced by Kelvin Herrera. Herrera would allow a run-scoring single to Michael Morse. That run would be charged to Guthrie, ultimately sticking him with the loss.

Royals' Jeremy Guthrie pulls out a win in Game 3
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(10/24/14) Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie pulled out a win Friday night against the Giants.
Guthrie allowed two runs on four hits over five innings of work. He did not record any strikeouts or walks during the contest. Guthrie gave up plenty of contact during the start, but was helped out by Kansas City's strong defense. He was excellent over the first five frames, not giving up a run.
Things began to unravel in the sixth inning. After a leadoff single, Guthrie allowed a run-scoring double against Michael Morse. Guthrie was pulled from the game at that point, but was charged with a second run after Morse would come around to score later in the frame.
The Royals would hold on to the one-run lead over the last couple of innings, giving Guthrie the win.

Yost: Jeremy Guthrie would start if Royals forced to Game 7
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(10/15/14) Though the likelihood of the scenario has grown more remote with every game, Ned Yost has declared via MLB Network Radio that right-hander Jeremy Guthrie would start Game 7 of the American League Championship Series if necessary.
The Royals would have to lose the next three games for that to happen. Guthrie performed well in a five-and-fly effort in Game 3, yielding just one earned run on three hits.
|2014 summary: With a 13-11 record, Jeremy Guthrie is now 3 for 3 in putting up winning records for the Royals (including his partial 2012 season). That's the only area where Guthrie made a contribution in Fantasy, as he was once again one of the most contact-prone starters in the majors. Because he didn't compensate for it with strong ground ball tendencies, like Henderson Alvarez, or with a low BABIP rate, like Chris Young, Guthrie was stuck with a 4.13 ERA and 1.30 WHIP that was of little use to Fantasy owners.
Playing time status: Guthrie will be penciled into the Royals' rotation this spring, but his spot could be vulnerable if Kyle Zimmer or Christian Binford make a push for a major league promotion at some point during the season.
2015 outlook: Even assuming Guthrie stays in the Royals' rotation all season, his relevance to Fantasy is limited to being filler for rotations in AL-only leagues.
