White Sox expecting Adam LaRoche, Adam Eaton back Friday

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(3/18/15) White Sox manager Robin Ventura is giving some of his players the day off to rest. With Adam Eaton dealing with an illness and Adam LaRoches sporting an ice back on his back Wednesday, Ventura wants to make sure his veterans are in a good place for Opening Day, reports CSN Chicago.

"Guys have been going hard, and everybody looks forward to it too," Ventura said. "You sit there and play all these games in a row, and it’s a time for a shift of focus, too. It’s a time for our guys to clear their minds and come back ready to go."

Ventura is expecting both to be back in the lineup Friday.

White Sox's LaRoche getting a few days off due to back issue

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/18/15) White Sox manager Robin Ventura said first baseman Adam LaRoche is dealing with a minor lower-back issue, according to CSN Chicago. Ventura gave him the day off Wednesday because of Thursday's off-day, so he can get a two-day break.

LaRoche is batting .250 (6 for 24) with one home run, two doubles, three runs, eight RBI and nine strikeouts in nine spring games.

White Sox's LaRoche on DH-ing: I'd like to get off my feet a little

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(3/5/15) White Sox first baseman Adam LaRoche told reporters that he's open to a transition to designated hitter, reports the Chicago Sun Times on Thursday.

"I do like the fact it gets me off my feet once in a while," LaRoche said. "I have had some very minor back issues the last couple of years that come and go and I think a lot of that is just from standing around when you’re out there at first base, standing the whole game. So getting off my feet a little, hopefully I won't have to battle that any more. So it will be nice."

LaRoche is also expected to spell Jose Abreu at first a few times per week to give him some more time at DH. The 35-year-old veteran hit .259/.362/.455 over 494 at-bats last year.

White Sox' Adam LaRoche will give Jose Abreu some rest

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(2/10/15) White Sox first baseman Adam LaRoche will make sure Jose Abreu stays fresh this season, according to MLB Network.

General manager Rick Hahn said Abreu "ran out of gas" down the stretch last season. It was Abreu's first year in the majors, and he wore down a bit as he played the most games of his career during a single season. Abreu's power numbers did drop in the second half, but he was able to hit .350 in the second half.

LaRoche will spell Abreu at first a few times a week, allowing Abreu to spend some more time at designated hitter. The 35-year-old LaRoche hit .259/.362/.455 over 494 at-bats last year.

White Sox sign Adam LaRoche to two-year deal

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(11/21/14) The White Sox have signed first baseman Adam LaRoche to a two-year, $25 million deal, according to the USA Today. CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman has confirmed the move.

The 35-year-old LaRoche hit .259/.362/.455 over 494 at-bats with Washington last season. LaRoche will likely split time at first and serve as the designated hitter with his new club.
