(5/2/13) Rangers first baseman Jeff Baker was given the start in left field for the third straight day in Thursday's game against the White Sox, but struck out in each of his three trips to the plate before being removed for a defensive replacement.
Manager Ron Washington insisted before the game that he wasn't employing a strict platoon in left field, so David Murphy should expect to see some action at the position soon. After homering in each of his last two games, Baker's ugly performance dropped his line to .321/.406/.679 in 32 plate appearances.

(4/27/13) Rangers utility man Jeff Baker was finally able to get back on the field Saturday against the Twins. Baker, who sat out the last four days with a bruised right knee, earned his first start at third base.
He went 1 for 3 with a strikeout and a walk in a 7-2 defeat and is hitting .333/.455/.556 with one home run and four RBI over his first 19 at-bats.

(4/26/13) Rangers outfielder Jeff Baker, who has been dealing with bruised right knee, was not available for Friday's contest against the Twins, MLB.com reports. Baker, who has been dealing with his injury since Tuesday, will likely be available to return Saturday.
"He moved around and worked out out there so we'll have him go through BP, and if he says he's ready to pinch-hit I'll get him back in there tomorrow," manager Ron Washington said.

(4/25/13) Rangers manager Ron Washington said that outfielder Jeff Baker will be available for action Friday, according to MLB.com. Baker was removed from action Tuesday after sliding into a wall, but X-rays were negative on his bruised knee.
If Baker is good to go, he should draw the start against left-hander Scott Diamond and the Twins.

(4/24/13) X-rays on Rangers outfielder Jeff Baker's knee Wednesday came back negative, according to the Dallas Morning News. Baker may be able to return to action this weekend.
