Preseason Outlook

Guzman was once an elite pitching prospect in the Cubs system, but he really hasn't been a factor for his team and Fantasy owners until last season when he finally stayed healthy and posted an ERA under 3.00 and a WHIP just over the 1.000 mark. Those are numbers that make him a useful reliever in all Rotisserie formats. Heck, he might even prove to be a late-inning option if the Cubs get sick of Carlos Marmol's wild ways. Consider Guzman a sleeper to elevate to the closer's role -- or even start -- in 2010. Take a flier on him in deeper NL-only formats. (Updated 1/26/10)
