Rays' Brandon Guyer leading off in all-righty lineup Tuesday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/14/15) Rays left fielder Brandon Guyer is leading off Tuesday as the team uses an all-rightly lineup against the Blue Jays and left-handed starter Daniel Norris.

The Rays actually have eight righties and one switch hitter in the lineup, loading up against the rookie southpaw. Guyer is just 2 for 11 this season but hit .297/.366/.396 in 111 at-bats against lefties in 2014.

In addition to Guyer, the Rays have Logan Forsythe at second base, Rene Rivera at first base, Tim Beckham at shortstop and Bobby Wilson at catcher in the final four spots of the lineup.

The Rays are underdogs (+135) against the Blue Jays Tuesday.

Rays' Rene Rivera makes 'unbelievable play' in win Monday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/14/15) Rays catcher Rene Rivera caught Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista attempting to steal to record a strike-em-out, throw-em-out double play in the ninth inning of Monday's 2-1 win.

"Unbelievable play," manager Kevin Cash said after the game, per MLB.com. "Bautista got a really good jump from our angle. But, Rene can really throw, we know that about him. That might be as big of a play as we've had all season. ... Huge. Man on second, one out. He swings and misses. The whole play. They chase on the ball up. If not, we're sitting first and second and no outs and not in the most ideal situation. I just saw the highlight of the throw, it was a bullet down there."

The double play brought Josh Donaldson to the plate with two outs, and closer Brad Boxberger got him to fly out to end the game.

Rivera went 0 for 3 in the game and is hitting just .130/.167/.217 with two RBI in 23 at-bats.

Rays give Rene Rivera break, Bobby Wilson starting Saturday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/11/15) Rays catcher Rene Rivera is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Rivera is 0 for 15 with five strikeouts to open the season. The team will turn to Bobby Wilson, who made his season debut Friday and went 1 for 1 at the plate.

Rays manager Kevin Cash rolls out lineup vs. LHPs

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/7/15) Rays manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday's batting order against the Orioles will be the standard lineup for when a left-handed starter is on the mound, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The Orioles are starting Wei-Yin Chen on Tuesday.

The Rays lineup Tuesday was Brandon Guyer (LF), Steven Souza (RF), Asdrubal Cabrera (SS), Evan Longoria (3B), Desmond Jennings (CF), Logan Forsythe (DH), James Loney (1B), Rene Rivera (C) and Tim Beckham (2B).

Rays to use Opening Day lineup vs. Tigers on Saturday

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/4/15) Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters that his lineup against the Tigers on Saturday, will be the same he uses on Opening Day, and against right-handed pitchers, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The club will roll with John Jaso, Steven Souza, Asdrubal Cabrera, Evan Longoria, James Loney, Desmond Jennings, Logan Forsythe, Rene Rivera and Kevin Kiermaier.

Against left-handed pitchers, Cash told reporters he will use Brandon Guyer at the leadoff spot, Jennings and Loney will flip spots in the order, Forsythe will serve as a designated hitter and Tim Beckham will be at second base, per the Tampa Tribune.
