(1/5/13) The Rangers sent catcher Eli Whiteside to Triple-A Saturday, after he made it through waivers following his designation for assignment. He has been put on waivers three times this season, and this was the first time he made it through without being claimed.

Rangers trying, but names (Jackson, Ross, Swisher, etc.) aren't exciting
When the Rangers lost out on Josh Hamilton, after already missing on Zack Greinke, James Shields and Justin Upton, they knew it would be tough to find someone who would excite them. But they need to add, and Edwin Jackson, A.J. Pierzynski, Cody Ross, Nick Swisher and Adam LaRoche are all believed to be on their list.
