Preseason Outlook

Greinke has made steady improvement each of the past three seasons after overcoming a bout with social-anxiety disorder and depression that nearly cost him his career. Now, he is the reigning AL Cy Young award winner and the No. 1 scoring pitcher in Fantasy a year ago. Greinke made a significant jump in strikeouts, which led to a low 2.00 ERA and a WHIP approaching 1.000. Although he pitches for the lowly Royals, he shuts down good teams in big spots, like he did down the stretch. Greinke has always had this talent, so we consider him a rock-solid pick among the top 5 starting pitchers in Fantasy. (Updated 1/20/10)
