Blue Jays announce several roster moves
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(4/18/14) The Blue Jays announced several roster moves before activating shortstop Jose Reyes from the disabled list on Friday.|
The team selected the contract of infielder Juan Francisco from Triple-A Buffalo and transferred Maicer Izturis to the 60-day disabled list following a 3-2 win over Cleveland. The team also placed Adam Lind on the 15-day disabled list.
Maicer Izturis likely out for the season

|(4/15/14) Blue Jays infielder Maicer Izturis will ultimately require surgery to repair a completely torn LCL, the team announced Tuesday. The surgery will keep Izturis out at least four months, though he could require up to six months to recover, and is likely out for the remainder of the season according to MLB.com.
Izturis is still set to seek a second opinion before undergoing surgery, but it appears inevitable at this point. The 33-year-old was hitting .286/.324/.314 through the first 11 games of the season before suffering the injury Sunday.
Maicer Izturs out 4-6 months with torn knee ligament

|(4/14/14) Blue Jays infielder Maicer Izturis is expected to be out four-to-six months while recovering from a torn LCL in his knee, Sportsnet reports.
Izturis will solicit a second opinion before going under the knife to repair the ligament tear. However, it appears he'll be out until mid-August at the earliest and potentially for the remainder of the season. He has hit .286/.324/.314 in 35 at-bats.
|Maicer Izturis finished his 2013 season early -- succumbing to an ankle injury in mid-August after playing in 107 games. But things weren't especially pretty before the injury. Izturis hit .236 with five home runs and just one steal (he had 17 steals in 2012), playing enough second base, third base and shortstop to qualify at all three positions in most leagues this season. Izturis doesn't offer much power, and his steals took a huge dip last year. His average tops out at around .260. So even if he plays 140 games, there isn't much there -- Fantasy-wise -- worth pursuing. His multi-position eligibility is a nice factor, but it still doesn't push him into anything deeper than a 14-team mixed Roto league bench.
