| Ronny Cedeno has sinus infection |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (5/19/13) Astros shortstop Ronny Cedeno was scratched from the game at Pittsburgh Sunday, MLB.com reports. Cedeno has a sinus infection and is considered day-to-day.
Cedeno, who is batting .281, is 0 for 6 in the last two games. He has a home run and nine RBI in 57 at-bats.

| Ronny Cedeno hits first home run in big day |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (4/24/13) Astros shortstop Ronny Cedeno turned in a huge performance against the Mariners Wednesday, going 3 for 4 with a single, double and his first home run of the season, a three-run shot off starter Joe Saunders in the fourth inning.
The three-hit game boosted Cedeno's batting average to .333, and his three RBI Wednesday doubled his season total. He has a modest six-game hitting streak while finding intermittent playing time.

| Ronny Cedeno returns to shortstop against Rangers |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (4/3/13) Ronny Cedeno will start at shortstop for the Astros Wednesday against Texas, replacing Marwin Gonzalez from Tuesday's lineup, the Houston Chronicle reports.
It's unclear how the playing time split will fall for Cedeno and Gonzalez. As the right-handed hitter of the pair, Cedeno is likely to get most starts against left-handed pitchers. However, Wednesday's opposing starter, Alexi Ogando, is also right-handed, so it doesn't appear Bo Porter will be using a strict platoon.
It looks like Cedeno has the upper hand for playing time right now, but don't be surprised if Porter ends up riding the hot hand as the season goes on.

| Ronny Cedeno triples in first game with Astros |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (3/24/13) Ronny Cedeno went 1 for 2 with a triple in his first game Sunday as a member of the Astros. Cedeno is now hitting .303/.378/.485 in 33 spring at-bats.
Cedeno is the front-runner for the shortstop job in Houston. Marwin Gonzalez is in the mix for at-bats but will likely open the season as the backup.

| Stay away from Astros' shortstops |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (3/24/13) Now that we have the news the Astros are moving forward with Ronny Cedeno and Marwin Gonzalez at shortstop, it doesn't exactly stir up a lot of intrigue for Fantasy owners. It would have been better if Tyler Greene ran away with the job because at least he had some untapped offensive potential, but now he's not even going to be on the Astros' roster.
Gonzalez's and Cedeno's strength is defense, so there's not much here for Fantasy owners to see. Neither have great offensive upside and could end up splitting playing time. Both players are desperation AL-only Fantasy options, so continue to look toward better alternatives on Draft Day.
