Snyder to have back surgery: From The Sports Xchange notes: C Chris Snyder will undergo microdiskectomy surgery Wednesday to repair a bulging disk in his lower back, a procedure that LHP Randy Johnson has had three times in his career. Snyder has been bothered by back pain most of the season and has been on the disabled list twice, in the process losing his starting position to C Miguel Montero. Snyder is expected to be healthy by spring training, at which point the cost-conscious Diamondbacks could shop him. Snyder is owed $11.25 million over the final two years (plus an option) on the contract extension he signed last winter. At the same time, the D-backs could keep both catchers and consider it a position of strength.
