Watson reinstated, then outrighted
(8/26/10) The A's have reinstated OF Matt Watson (kidney stones) from the 15-day disabled list and outrighted him to Triple-A Sacramento. Watson is expected to rehab with Sacramento.
Watson to start baseball activities
(8/17/10) A's OF Matt Watson, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Aug. 9 with kidney stones, did some weight work Tuesday and will start baseball activities later this week. "Hopefully in the next couple days I can start fully working out and then do some rehab at Sacramento," Watson told MLB.com. "Then, I guess we'll see what happens."
Watson lands on DL
(8/9/10) A's OF Matt Watson was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday with kidney stones. Watson was taken to a hospital before Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers after complaining of pain in his side and back. He is batting .200 with four RBI on the season.
Watson makes trip to hospital
(8/8/10) Oakland OF Matt Watson was taken to a hospital before Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers after complaining of pain in his side and back. Watson, who hit an RBI double in the A's 6-2 victory over the Rangers on Saturday, felt discomfort as he arrived in the clubhouse. He is 6 for 30 in 12 games for the A's, who signed him to a minor league contract on May 28 out of the independent Atlantic League. Watson's injury was not baseball related, according to MLB.com.
Watson hits first major-league homer
(7/21/10) Matt Watson's baseball journey has taken him to Japan, South Korea and all over the minors and independent leagues ever since making his big league debut with the New York Mets. Nearly seven years later, Watson hit his first major league homer to help the Oakland Athletics win their third straight series with a 6-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. "I enjoyed it," Watson said. "It was nice to finally get one. I'd like to count some of my Asian ones as major league home runs but I don't think they count in the record book."
