| (2/20/11) The Mets re-signed outfielder Jesus Feliciano on Sunday to a minor league deal, reports ESPN.com. New York also signed Chris Shelton and Kent Tsujimoto. Shelton is 30 years of age and last spent time in the majors in 2009 with Seattle. |
| Astros trim roster to 29 players |
| (3/30/10) Infielder Edwin Maysonet and reliever Wilton Lopez were optioned to the Astros' minor league camp Tuesday. In other moves, the team said non-roster invitee reliever Casey Daigle will be reassigned to minor league camp after he pitches with the big league club Thursday. Non-roster invitee relievers Gary Majewski and Gustavo Chacin, infielders Chris Shelton and Drew Meyer, and catcher Kevin Cash will stay with Houston through its home exhibition series against the Blues Jays and then be reassigned to minor league camp. The Astros must make four more cuts by Sunday afternoon to get to the 25-man limit. |

| Shelton hits first spring home run |
| (3/14/10) Houston 1B Chris Shelton, who once hit 18 homers and drove in 59 RBI in a season with the Tigers back in 2005 as a 25-year-old, hit his first bomb of the spring on Saturday against the Cardinals. Shelton took starter Chris Carpenter deep in the second inning for a two-run shot with nobody out. He finished the game 1 for 4 and is batting .286 on the spring. |
| Berkman undergoes knee surgery |
| (3/13/10) Astros 1B Lance Berkman is expected to miss two to four weeks after having knee surgery to remove loose cartilage from his left knee. Manager Brad Mills said that the surgery on Saturday showed there was no damage to the meniscus or ligaments. The timetable for Berkman's recovery puts him in jeopardy of missing Opening Day. "From my understanding, they were able to clean everything up without any cartilage damage," Mills said. "The level of concern has gone way down because of that. The doctor says he's fine. I have all the confidence in the world that he's going to be fine." Mills said that the team would not move Carlos Lee or any other outfielder to first if Berkman is out for the start of the season. Berkman's backup, Geoff Blum, went 1 for 4 with an RBI for an Astros split squad that topped the Nationals 8-7 on Saturday. Chris Shelton and Jeff Keppinger could also see time at first. |
