(4/18/14) Twins shortstop Jason Bartlett, who began a rehab stint Thursday with Class A Fort Myers, told manager Doug Mientkiewicz an hour before Friday's game he will retire, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. The 34-year-old finished his 10-year career with a .270/.336/.366 slash line, with 31 homers and 286 RBI in 892 games played.

(4/17/14) Twins shortstop Jason Bartlett began a rehab stint with Class A Fort Myers on Thursday as he works to recover from an ankle sprain, per MLB.com.
Bartlett played in just three games early this season before being sidelined. He struck out in each of his three at-bats.

(4/15/14) Twins infielder Jason Bartlett did not begin his minor-league rehab assignment at Class A Fort Myers as expected Tuesday. Instead, Bartlett took part in an extended spring training game, as he continues to recover from a sprained ankle. A rehab appearance in a minor-league game will likely come next, assuming he avoids setbacks.

(4/12/14) Twins infielder Jason Bartlett will begin a rehab assignment with high Class A Fort Myers Monday, the Star Tribune reports.
Bartlett will part ways with the team Sunday to meet the Fort Myers club. He'll get some at-bats while continuing to recover from a sprained ankle.
Padres release Orlando Hudson, go with youth movement
The Padres have unconditionally released second baseman Orlando Hudson, the club announced Thursday afternoon. They also placed Jason Bartlett on the DL, recalled Everth Cabrera and Alexi Amarista and claimed Eric Stults off waivers.
