Fantasy Analysis
It took Schumaker almost the entire first month of the season to drive in his first run because of his stint on the disabled list with an oblique injury. Now that he's healthy, manager Mike Matheny plans on dividing playing time among Schumaker, Daniel Descalso and Tyler Greene. "Just kind of put everything in there every day -- depending on the matchup, depending on how they're swinging, how they're feeling," Matheny told MLB.com. "Just kind of monitor pretty closely. There's going to be a lot of information that goes into that decision every day." Fantasy owners should continue to view Schumaker as a low-end Fantasy option. (Updated 04/28/2012).

05/20/2012 23:20 Van Slyke's first HR wins it for Dodgers

05/17/2012 12:20 Injuries mount in Cardinals outfield
Jon Jay is on the disabled list while Carlos Beltran sat out Wednesday night with a knee issue and Allen Craig had to leave the game with a hamstring issue.
Skip Schumaker was the Cardinals' super-utility guy in 2011 as he spent time at second base and all three outfield positions. The Cardinals re-signed him in the offseason to reprise that role for the defending World Series champs in 2012. The 32-year-old Schumaker had a terrific season in that role last year as he hit .283 with two homers, 38 RBI and 34 runs scored over 117 games and 367 at-bats. St. Louis will be looking for similar contributions from Schumaker this season and he's liable to oblige. Unfortunately, that also means Schumaker will remain just a part-time player for the Cardinals. That will keep Schumaker's Fantasy value down around the low-end region in NL-only formats.
