| Scott Hairston gets the nod Tuesday |

With lefty Jeff Francis on the mound, Hairston gets the call. He's platooned with Nate Schierholtz most of the season. Hairston will hit fifth and play right field Tuesday. He's hitting .136/.167/.386 in 44 at-bats.

| Scott Hairston goes yard Thursday |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (5/2/13) Cubs outfielder Scott Hairston clubbed a two-run homer Thursday.
The wind was blowing in at Wrigley Field, so Hairston had to make solid contact with the pitch. It was just low enough to avoid being held up by the wind and went over the left-field wall. Hairston was replaced by Julio Borbon later in the game. He finished 1 for 3 with two RBI.

| Scott Hairston homers for second time |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (4/30/13) Cubs outfielder Scott Hairston hit his second home run in Monday's win against San Diego, a solo shot.
Hairston was brought in to mash left-handers, and that's just what he did Monday. Padres left-hander Clayton Richard made the start and Hairston hit the home run in his first at-bat against him Monday night.
Hairston has just two hits in 24 at-bats against left-handers, but both have been home runs.

| Cubs give Hairston two years |
| (1/23/13) The Cubs and outfielder Scott Hairston agreed to a two-year contract on Wednesday. According to multiple sources, the deal could be worth up to $6 million. Hairston batted .263 with a career-high 20 homers and 57 RBI last season.

| Hairston close to decision |
by Al Melchior | Data Analyst (1/8/13) ESPN.com reports that free agent outfielder Scott Hairston is down to two suitors -- the Mets and the Yankees -- and that he will decide where he will play in 2013 over the next few days. Should Hairston return to the Mets, for whom he has played the previous two seasons, he will likely fall into a starting role, whereas the Yankees are more interested in using Hairston as a backup. Hairston's preference for a multi-year deal may also work in the Mets' favor, as the Yankees have been reluctant to offer more than a one-year deal to free agents this offseason.
