Foot - Probable for start of spring training (Updated - 1/5/12)
Fantasy Analysis
The flyball-hitting Kubel should enjoy his move from Target Field -- a pitcher's paradise -- to hitter-friendly Chase Field. His power numbers had dropped after the Twins left the Metrodome, but they should rise again with his move to the desert. Look to take Kubel in the later rounds of standard mixed league drafts. Last season was looking like a season to forget for Jason Kubel, as he spent much of the year hobbled by a foot injury and unsuccessfully trying to recover his power stroke. His year ended on a high note, though, as the Diamondbacks signed Kubel to a two-year, $15 million deal. In addition to landing a multi-year contract, Kubel was rewarded with the starting left field job in Arizona and a huge upgrade in his home field hitting environment. Kubel's power had been on the decline since the Twins left the Metrodome after the 2009 season, and the Diamondbacks' Chase Field is one of the best home run stadiums in the National League. Kubel will also be surrounded by some potent hitters, who should provide him with plentiful run-producing opportunities. The move should be a beneficial one overall for Kubel, making him a viable use of a late-round pick in standard mixed leagues. (Updated 2/13/12)
