Kubel has no homers in May: Diamondbacks outfielder Jason Kubel hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning Wednesday against the Dodgers. Kubel is still, however, mired in a 1-for-15 slump in his last four games. (Updated 05/24/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Kubel has slowed down offensively in May. After batting .333 in April, Kubel is batting just .227 in May. Worst of all is that he has no homers in 21 May games. Kubel has continued to battle some ups and downs in his first season in the NL. Hopefully, he will get going when the calender switches to June. As of now, Kubel is just a low-end option in larger mixed leagues. (Updated 05/24/2012).

Last season was looking like a season to forget for Jason Kubel, as he spent much of the year hobbled by a foot injury and unsuccessfully trying to recover his power stroke. His year ended on a high note, though, as the Diamondbacks signed Kubel to a two-year, $15 million deal. In addition to landing a multi-year contract, Kubel was rewarded with the starting left field job in Arizona and a huge upgrade in his home field hitting environment. Kubel's power had been on the decline since the Twins left the Metrodome after the 2009 season, and the Diamondbacks' Chase Field is one of the best home run stadiums in the National League. Kubel will also be surrounded by some potent hitters, who should provide him with plentiful run-producing opportunities. The move should be a beneficial one overall for Kubel, making him a viable use of a late-round pick in standard mixed leagues. (Updated 2/13/12)
