| Luke Scott hits one against former team |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (5/19/13) Rays designated hitter Luke Scott homered in his old stadium Sunday in Baltimore. A former member of the Orioles, Scott went deep to right field in the fifth inning off former teammate Chris Tillman.
Scott hit his third home run of the season for a solo shot. He went 1 for 4 and is batting .356. He's driven in runs in four straight games and has eight RBI over his last 10 games.

| Luke Scott could see expanded role in NL parks |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/10/13) Rays designated hitter Luke Scott could be ready to play in the field the next time his team plays at a National League ballpark.
Scott has a .348/.448/.609 line after missing the first 25 games of the season with calf and elbow injuries.
"Definitely, I'm getting even better as the days are going along," Scott told MLB.com. "Before it would be that I'd have a good day, then a day I'm sore, another good day, and a day I'm sore. Then it was two good days and a day I'm sore. Now it's three and four, five good days and a day I'm sore."
The Rays are not scheduled to play a National League team until May 29 at Miami.

| Luke Scott draws bases-loaded walk |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/10/13) Rays designated hitter Luke Scott drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure a win Thursday night against the Blue Jays.
Scott battled back from an 0-2 count before taking four consecutive balls from Brad Lincoln. He finished 1 for 3 with two walks and an RBI in a 5-4 win in extras.
Scott is hitting .333 (5 for 15) with a home run and five RBI in his last five games. He has a .348/.448/.609 line with two homers and seven RBI since coming off the disabled list with calf and elbow injuries.

| Luke Scott 'feeling pretty good' |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (5/6/13) Rays designated hitter Luke Scott has been back with the team for about a week after he missed time with a right calf strain, MLB.com reports. Scott entered Monday's game against Toronto hitting .444 with a homer and two RBI.
"I'm feeling pretty good," said Scott, noting that it's the best he's felt since hurting his right shoulder in 2011 with the Orioles. "Obviously, because I'm in full health, my shoulder's healed up. I'm where I'm able to hang in like I used to and stay in and drive everything."

| Luke Scott gets going quickly |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (5/2/13) It took Rays outfielder Luke Scott exactly one day to get up to speed since being activated from the disabled list with calf and elbow injuries. After going hitless in his first game Tuesday, Scott made it through Wednesday's game without making an out.
Scott went 3 for 3, including his first home run of the season, a solo shot in the fourth inning. He scored twice, drove in two runs and walked once in a 9-8 loss.
|
| In four seasons with the Orioles, Luke Scott was a consistent power producer, at least against right-handed pitching, but even after leaving hitter-friendly Camden Yards, Scott continued to provide some home run thump. His 2012 campaign with the Rays was limited to 96 games due to back injuries, but he still managed to crank 14 home runs. Never known as a good source of batting average, Scott posted his second straight sub-.230 mark, clocking in at .229. He acknowledged that he may not have been fully recovered from shoulder surgery he underwent in 2011, so a healthier Scott could be more productive in 2013. The Rays will give him another chance to be their designated hitter, and owners in deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats should give him a chance, too. (Updated 1/28/13) |
