Youngs bat show some life: Mired in a for 10 for 58 slump over his previous 16 games heading into Fridays game against the Pirates, Tigers outfielder Delmon Young had the breakout game he has been waiting for, going 2 for 4 with a double and a home run, while driving in three runs and scoring another, to lead the Tigers offense to a 6-0 win. Fantasy Analysis
Young had just one home run on the season prior to Friday, back on the seventh game of the season, so it was good to see him show a little bit of pop. He had just seven doubles as well, so hopefully this can get him going. He is still batting just .235 on the season, so he should be just a low-end Fantasy option until he shows consistent production. (Updated 05/18/2012).

05/16/2012 12:32 Setting the Trends: Should you bother with Nava?
The Red Sox are sure running through their fair share of outfielders. Our Nando Di Fino touches on their latest candidate -- Daniel Nava -- and other popular pickups in his Setting the Trends.
Just when he finally appeared to be living up to the hype that made him the first overall pick in the 2003 draft, adding power to his typically high batting average in 2010, Delmon Young regressed to the opposite end of the spectrum in 2011. Hindered by an oblique injury early in the season, he hit only .211 with one home run in April and May. When he had only four home runs by the middle of August, the Twins elected to do what the Rays did several years earlier and gave up on him, trading him to the Tigers for a couple of relative unknowns. His problem in 2011 was the same problem he's had throughout his career. He'll swing at anything, which not only limits his walks but also decreases his chances of getting a pitch he can drive. The story wouldn't be complete without pointing out that Young did show some improvement batting ahead of Miguel Cabrera, hitting eight homers in 168 at-bats, and his .289 batting average and .763 OPS over the final four months were closer to the norm for him. But the norm isn't good enough. You want what he did in 2010, and that's simply no guarantee at this point. Young is back to being no more than a late-round pick in Fantasy. (Updated 2/13/12)
