| Hector Gimenez swinging and missing |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (5/15/13) White Sox backup catcher Hector Gimenez struck out three times on Wednesday during an 0-for-5 performance in Minnesota. Gimenez has struck out 10 times in nine games this season.
The backup to Tyler Flowers behind the plate for the White Sox has not shown anything with his bat to over 24 at-bats. He has one homer and four RBI.

| Hector Gimenez available going forward |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (4/24/13) White Sox catcher Hector Gimenez was available for Wednesday's game against the Indians, though he never entered the game with Tyler Flowers behind the plate.
Gimenez was said to be fine following sitting out Tuesday's game, MLB.com reported.
"He looks fine," manager Robin Ventura said Tuesday. "That's one of those that hurts at the time. He was going to get run for anyway. He wanted to stay in, but he's going to be fine."

| Hector Gimenez available Wednesday |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (4/23/13) White Sox catcher Hector Gimenez, who left Monday's game with a left leg injury, will be available Wednesday against the Indians. Gimenez is hitting .111 with three RBI in nine at-bats.

| Hector Gimenez leaves after HBP |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (4/22/13) White Sox catcher Hector Gimenez had to leave Monday's game against Cleveland in the seventh inning after getting hit by a pitch on his left leg, MLB.com reports. He was removed for a pinch-runner.
Gimenez, considered day to day, walked off the field under his own power. He went 1 for 1 with an RBI double and a walk in the contest. Gimenez is batting .111.

| Hector Gimenez sees first game action |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (4/6/13) White Sox catcher Hector Gimenez got his first start Saturday at home against Seattle. Tyler Flowers had seen all the action entering Saturday's game.
Gimenez had a productive day batting eighth, as he walked and drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. He was 0 for 1 with a walk and an RBI. He also had a passed ball defensively.
|
| Hector Gimenez has three straight seasons of double-digit home runs in the minors, despite not getting more than 375 at-bats in any of them. He carries a career .264 average across over 900 minor league games. And the 30-year-old backstop currently slots as the backup for the unproven Tyler Flowers for 2013, with the departure of A.J. Pierzynski to the Rangers. Extremely deep AL-only players may want to keep Gimenez on their radars, as early struggles by Flowers could lead to more at-bats for Gimenez. All other owners can ignore him for now. (Updated 1/8/13) |
