| Belisario kicked off winter team |
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer (12/20/12) Dodgers right-hander Ronald Belisario has been sent home from the Venezuelan winter league for disciplinary reasons, according to the Los Angeles Times. Belisario reportedly didn't return from a personal leave as scheduled. The 29-year-old right-hander has had plenty of off-the-field issues in his career, culminating in a 25-game suspension for substance abuse at the start of last season, but the Dodgers don't believe this latest issue will cause him to miss any time this spring. "Not at this point," general manager Ned Colletti said. "We have a lot invested in him and were certainly counting on him, and he recognizes what he has at stake too."

| From his immigration issues to his cocaine abuse to whatever caused him to get kicked off his Venezuelan Winter League team this offseason, Ronald Belisario is known more for his off-the-field problems than anything else. But he's such a good pitcher that the Dodgers have been willing to overlook those problems. The 2012 season was his best one yet. Even with him missing the first 25 games because of a positive drug test, he still managed to pitch 71 innings, striking out nearly a batter per with a 2.54 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. Between Brandon League and Kenley Jansen, the Dodgers have saves pretty well taken care of, but if pure middle relievers matter in your format, don't let Belisario's off-the-field issues scare you away.
