| Matsui returns to Japan |
| (11/26/10) 2B Kazuo Matsui reached an agreement to play with the Rakuten Eagles of the Japanese Pacific League on Thursday. Matsui played in the major leagues for seven seasons, most recently with the Astros in 2010. Matsui batted .267 with 615 hits and 102 stolen bases in the majors. |
| Matsui happy to be with Rockies |
| (5/31/10) Rockies 2B Kazuo Matsui is 4 for 14 since joining Triple-A Colorado Springs and has been welcomed by the fans. "I am honored to be welcomed like that way," Matsui told MLB.com. "I didn't expect that at all." This is the switch-hitters second time around with the Rockies, after being released by the Astros on May 20. "I am very grateful to the Rockies for giving me another chance. I will do my best to get the good result. I am still confident I can get back to the Majors," he said. |

| (5/26/10) 2B Kazuo Matsui passed his physical Tuesday and reported to Triple-A Colorado Springs. He's back in the Rockies organization after the Astros waived him last week. |
| Matsui back with Rockies again |
| (5/24/10) After clearing waivers earlier in the day, Kazuo Matsui signed a minor-league deal with the Rockies on Monday, according to MLB.com. The 35-year-old played with Colorado from 2006-07 and batted .300 with the team before signing with the Astros in 2008. The switch-hitter was hitting just .141 in 27 games with Houston before being released last Wednesday. Upon passing a physical, he will be sent to Triple-A Colorado Springs. |
| Matsui clears, becomes free agent |
| (5/24/10) Kaz Matsui, who was waived by the Astros last week, has cleared waivers and is an unrestricted free agent. He was in the final season of a three-year contract worth $16.5 million. Matsui struggled with injuries in his time with the Astros and was placed on the DL four times. His best season in Houston came in 2008 when he hit .293 with 33 RBI. |
