Fantasy Analysis
Callaspo's playing time was dwindling in April because of his offensive shortcomings. However, he's played his way back into the lineup because he's hitting. He has started the last 10 of 11 games at third base for Los Angeles. Callaspo isn't putting up monster offensive numbers, but he's worth using in AL-only Fantasy formats while he's making consistent contact. (Updated 05/17/2012).

As interleague play gets under way there are many matchups to break down. Our Scott White tells you who the best bets and biggest risks are in his Hit Parade for Week 7.
Alberto Callaspo was the opening day third baseman for the Angels last season and had another productive campaign with the bat. While his power took a bit of a hit, a strong finish gave him a .288 average with six homers, 46 RBI and eight stolen bases in 141 games. He was unable to hit double-digit homers for the first time since 2008, but his .375 slugging percentage was exactly one point higher than his mark from 2010. There have been rumors that the Angels want to try out Mark Trumbo at third base (due to the signing of Albert Pujols) but Trumbo has not been able to get much work at the hot corner this offseason as he continues to recover from a stress fracture in his foot. Keep an eye on the situation going forward as Callaspo still lines up to be a starter at this point. Callaspo could be in line for a fairly productive campaign in 2012, but due to his lack of power -- and the possibility of limited playing time -- target him in deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats on Draft Day.
