Kazmir trying to resurrect career: Former Tampa Bay ace Scott Kazmir will pitch in the Dominican Winter League with the Escogido Lions, according to ESPN Deportes. Kazmir was released by the Angels in June of last season after failing to overcome control issues and a back injury that limited him to one start with the team. (Updated 11/19/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
Kazmir was one of the American League's most dominant strikeout pitchers during his five-plus years with the Rays, but struggled mightily after a trade to Los Angeles in 2009. He made 35 starts with the Angels and compiled an 11-15 record, however his accuracy diminished during his first full season with Los Angeles and he walked 79 batters in 150 innings. He drew some interest from major league teams after his release, but finished the season as a free agent. Fantasy owners should ignore him in all 2012 drafts as he tries to kick-start his career.
