Preseason Outlook

Francisco took hold of the closer’s role in Texas last season and did a solid job, saving 25 of 29 opportunities. After a smashing first half, though, he struggled some after the break, posting a 5.82 ERA. But that led to only two blown saves. Francisco enters spring training as the most likely closer for the Rangers, although C.J. Wilson will be lurking in the setup role. A full spring and perhaps season as closer should make Francisco more consistent and a solid fall-back option if you miss out on one of the top 15 closers in Fantasy. The Rangers figure to be a contender that can get him ample save chances. (Updated 1/7/10)
