Kendrick still struggling : Angels second basemen Howard Kendrick was finally able to put a few hits together during Sunday's series finale against the Padres. Fantasy Analysis
Kendrick started off May on a high note getting his average all up to .298 after his three-hit performance against the Twins back a few weeks back. However, he has gone ice-cold over his last 10 games as he is hitting just .118 (4 for 34) with two RBI and 10 strikeouts over that stretch. While the 28-year-old has some decent pop and has proved to be a reliable Fantasy option in the past, owners may want to leave Kendrick reserved until he gets himself back on track. Howard Kendrick had the most productive season of his career in 2011 and also gained some dual eligibility for Fantasy owners. Due to some injuries in the outfield, he played 23 games in left last season, and began hitting more home runs like a typical outfielder. He batted .302 with eight homers in the first half and launched 10 long balls after the All-Star break to finish with a career-high 18. His average dipped a bit in the second half but he still finished the year with a .285 mark and a career-high .464 slugging percentage. The 28-year-old was rewarded with a four-year contract extension in the offseason and big things are expected from him in 2012. His one knock in Fantasy over the years has been his power, but if he can break the 20-homer plateau, Kendrick's value could really take off. As it is, Kendrick is at the bottom of the Top 10 of Fantasy second basemen on Draft Day. (Updated 2/13/12)
